Dan DeKoter graduated from Calvin College in 1977 with a bachelor’s degree in Philosophy and English. Following his years in college, he went on to attend the University of Iowa, earning his Juris Doctorate with high distinction, in 1980. In the same year, Attorney DeKoter joined Sibley Law, with his general practice emphasizing on civil litigation, business and employment law, and estate planning and administration.

A partner at DeKoter, Thole, Dawson & Rockman, PLC, Attorney Dan DeKoter currently serves at the Village Northwest Unlimited Board. In the past, he was a member of the Sibley Library Board; Sibley Kiwanis; Iowa State Bar Association Legal Forms Committee, where he was a chair member; Northwest Iowa Humane Society, where he was the president. Aside from his membership in line with his profession, he was also a member of several church boards.  

Attorney DeKoter grew up in Maurice and Orange City and is an alumnus of Maurice-Orange City High School. He has represented clients throughout the Sioux, O’Brien, Lyon, Dickinson, and Osceola counties in Iowa, and the Jackson and Nobles counties in Minnesota.
