Attorney Dan DeKoter received his bachelor’s degree in philosophy and English in 1977 at Calvin College and earned his Juris Doctorate from the University of Iowa in 1980.  His general practice places emphasis on civil litigation, including personal injury, insurance defense, and business disputes; estate planning and administration, and business and employment law. 

A practicing lawyer, Mr. DeKoter is a partner at DeKoter, Thole, Dawson & Rockman, PLC, representing clients throughout the Nobles and Jackson counties in Minnesota, and O’Brien, Sioux, Dickinson, Lyon, and Osceola counties in Iowa. He is a former member of the Iowa State Bar Association Legal Forms Committee, where he served as a chair member; Northwest Iowa Humane Society, where he was the president; Sibley Kiwanis, and Sibley Library Board. At present, Attorney Dan serves at the Village Northwest Unlimited Board.

Attorney Dan DeKoter grew up in Maurice and Orange City.  He is an alumnus of Maurice-Orange City High School.
